Condé Nast Traveler has selected KOKO Restaurant + Bar as the only Canadian restaurant/bar to make the Hot Nights, Hot List May 2009 and right they were to choose this uber gorgeous place with tear drop chandeliers sparkling from their high ceilings. It was soo busy the evening we went- they had set up patio furniture as our table indoors which was ok but I would've preferred sitting in a sexy booth however the location of our table was central to all the action. Now let's go on about the drinks here for a little bit- they had champagne with an organic candied hibiscus flower called the wildchild- definitely one of my favourite drinks of the evening. Their 1914 drink which was a pear puree, sake and ginger martini was delicious and their mojitos - now they know what they are talking about here when they make them! Our dinner was AMAZING. Our attentive server Ben suggested different asian fusion tapas and they were spectacular. He also mentioned that the GM of the place was an opera singer so if you ever meet him - feel free to drop that in. The highlights for our appetiziers were the kobe beef teppanyaki - it's kobe beef- which is always amazing and the chicken karrage- these little bit sizes chicken pieces were lightly breaded and perfect for sharing - they were paired with a yuzu peppercorn glaze which was delicious. The main in my opinion that stole the show was the miso black cod- it was outstanding with it's light and sweet flavour!
After the dinner hour - the velvet rope gets brought out at the door and it turns into a party space with a huge indoor dancefloor and a gorgeous 5000 sq foot terrace in the back which gets busy for cocktails and mingling. This is the perfect one stop location for a great evening out with the ladies!
