Dining at La Locale

Over the Canadian Victoria day long weekend- which signifies the official beginning of the summer- 3 of my girlfriends and I decided to have a reunion in Montreal (La Belle Province) to reminisce about the good times we spent there during our undergrad. Our first night we dined at this new hotspot in vieux port (old Montreal) called La Locale. It's this gorgeous open loft space with a huge front terrace and beautiful wait staff. We were seated at a table near their open kitchen so for me - it was ideal for watching my food porn stars in action. The restaurant was slick and buzzing with energy as the atmosphere was tres chic and sexy. It's also a great place to lounge around and people watch with cocktails in hand. I wouldn't recommend the mojitos though - not great!

I started off with an outstanding salmon tartare, my friends with salads- Catherine had the beet and goat cheese salad - the yellow beets were very sweet and the green salad was meh- a green salad but a well executed green salad.
As for mains- I tried the black cod which had crispy skin but tender and juicy on the inside. Julia had the steak - it was done the way she asked but it was a small portion. Merissa and Catherine had the dinner portion of the salmon tartare- which was delicieux!
This was a great first night dinner spot, afterwards we wandered the gorgeous cobblestone streets of vieux port and stumbled upon another sexy lounge for martinis... In summary it was a great location, good food and gorgeous servers... a great start to le week-end, n'est-ce pas?
