Grapefruit Mooning

Grapefruit Moon is a local Annex gem for brunch.  However it's usually crowded with line ups with local non pretentious folk just looking for a casual brunch.  Grapefruit moon is an understated place -like a shabby chique garage feel.  They have room for only 25 at the low-slung tables lining the wall and corners of the room with 6 more seats at the kitchen counter. Antique bikes, photos and artwork are showcased on the walls.
We get there shortly after 10:30am and much to my surprise are seated right away which doesn't happen often at all.
Grapefruit moon has an array of breakfast choices but their most popular are their breakfast quesadillas ($10, with three toppings).
I opt for the huevos rancheros because I am a sucker for guacamole.   My dining partner got the big breakfast which was 3 eggs, rye toast and saussages - a hearty big breakfast to kick start your day!
Both plates showed up nicely presented; his heaping with food and mine eith eggs on a folded tortilla and my guacamole with salsa off to the side and hallmark grapefruit garnish.
We read the newspaper while enjoying our meal.  Service was sporatic but it was a function of the busyiness of the place as well as how well our server could maneuver around the crowded house.
Regardless of the kitch, crowd - I always love the Grapefruit Moon.
